JLTW has hosted 17 IMPACT Conferences. This annual conference provides knowledge and skills needed to instill positive self-esteem within children, adolescents, and peers to over 36,000 individuals including parents, educators, and students. The League partners with 10 school districts and invites all staff, admission free, to learn while earning continuing education credits. Past speakers include Dr. Temple Grandin, a distinguished author and famous speaker with autism and Liz Murray, author of the memoir “Breaking Night: A Memoir of Forgiveness, Survival and My Journey from Homeless to Harvard“. The IMPACT 2015 speaker was Anthony Robles, author of the book, Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became A Champion, and the 2016 conference featured best selling motivational author Jon Gordon.

1006_kaitlin-roig-debellisThis year’s speaker is Kaitlin Roig-DeBellis, Executive Director of Classes4Classes, Author of Choosing Hope: Overcoming Life’s Darkest Hours. In 2007, Kaitlin started teaching first grade at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. and on Dec. 14 2012, the school endured a tragedy beyond comprehension while Kaitlin heroically huddled with her students, saving their lives. Inspired by the kindness of others and in support of her first graders, Kaitlin founded Classes 4 Classes, which actively engages students in learning a social curriculum encouraging the development of students’ emotional intellect, a key to forming healthy relationships. Classes 4 Classes’ mission is for every student in the United States to learn about compassion, caring, kindness, empathy and consideration –- lessons that every child needs to learn. Kaitlin has been honored as a Glamour Woman of the Year and a L’Oreal Paris Woman of Worth in 2013. Kaitlin has received 2 honorary doctorate degrees.

Her book is available on Amazon in both hardcover and paperback. While you’re at it, please consider supporting our league with your Amazon Smile account.
