On behalf of our 500+ Members, I want to welcome you to Junior League of The Woodlands’ website and invite you to learn about the rich history of our League. Over 30 years ago, 68 women with a bold vision, dedication and a mission to serve our community created what has now become Junior League of The Woodlands. As a part of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc., we stand strong with 294 other Junior Leagues and over 125,000 women, all serving in a vast network of women volunteers all around the world who are catalysts for lasting community change.
This past year presented us with unparalleled challenges and change, from a world-wide pandemic, a call for racial justice and equitable treatment for all, job loss, severe crippling weather, and we have experienced an unanticipated impact on our physical, mental and emotional well-being. Through all of this, our Members have been steadfast in their commitment to our community and their passion for service unwavering. While our programming and events may have looked different because of the pandemic, Junior League of The Woodlands’ Members still volunteered with the same zest, contributing over 23,000 hours of service. These hours, combined with programming and direct financial assistance, equate to over $1 million in assistance to our community. We have much to be proud of, but we also know the work must continue.
Like many organizations, the past year afforded us a time of reflection and renewed commitment to our Mission. Although we kindly joke about last year as the year of the “pivot”, through these moments of changing course, we learned ways to be better. And so, this year, we want to keep that momentum going with the theme Be the Change. As an organization dedicated to developing women, we will promote and cultivate Servant Leaders that are committed to being Kind, Fair, Positive, Caring and Empathetic. But most of all, as Servant Leaders, we are empowered and committed to making meaningful and sustainable change in our community as we stand in the gap, one volunteer at a time. We hope that you will stand with us!
